Condition Surveys

In conjunction with civil engineering expertise, Heilig & Partners can assess infrastructure to ascertain the potential impacts of varying levels of vibration on the integrity or serviceability of the infrastructure. The source of the vibration may be blasting or mechanically induced (piling, hydraulic hammering, TBM, road header, etc).

Construction

Heilig & Partners possess possibly the world’s most advanced data base on the expected level of vibration at varying distances from varying types of construction equipment. Models that predict the level of vibration can be used to assess the feasibility of different excavation designs.

Equipment

Heilig & Partners possess the most advanced and diverse capability fleet of vibration monitoring equipment in Australia. The instrumentation ranges from simple and easy to use blast monitoring equipment commonly used to measure the level of vibration and air overpressure from blasting activities through to sophisticated high resolution, high speed data acquisition systems (1MHz) appropriate for near field, detailed blast analysis.

Expert Witness

The extensive knowledge within the Heilig & Partners group ensures clients requirements are effectively represented in the planning and environment courts. Large scale projects covering resource extensions, new extractive leases, residential and commercial developments, Heilig & Partners have provided expertise in assessing the potential impacts.

General

Heilig & Partners provide engineering advice to the large construction companies operating in Australia as well as many of the larger groups operating in the Asia Pacific region. Other second tier construction companies are equally well catered for with the same level of advice and planning.

Open Cut Mining

Review of blast designs through field assessment and modelling remains a common component of the Heilig & Partners consulting expertise. Outcomes of these studies may focus on issues of improving wall stability of large open cut mines through to quarry faces, optimising fragmentation and diggability of the blasted rock through to improving the overall economics of the drilling and blasting process.

Quarrying

Heilig & Partners provide design expertise to quarries in the key environmental areas of vibration, overpressure and flyrock control. The reducing proximity of quarries to potential sensitive receivers and the variable environmental criteria placed upon their operation, as well as the requirement to maintain stable walls and uniform fragmentation are all interlocking constraints that impact upon the optimum quarry design.

Tunnelling

Heilig and Partners have developed the most advanced software for analysing the environmental effects of tunnelling activities. The models are three-dimensional and account for equipment specifications, tunnel alignment, surface topography, and geology in predicting the level of vibration and regenerated noise.

Underground

Mining and blast design for underground operations is a core component of the Heilig & Partners consulting activities. Heilig & Partners have provided consulting services in the areas of blast design, including the assessment and optimisation for all aspects of underground mining. Blast patterns for small diameter, narrow vein cut and fill operations through to large diameter, sublevel open stoping mines can be provided.

Vibration Analysis

Arguably the world’s most advanced software for vibration analyses, the potential impact of blasting activities or mechanical methods of excavation can be undertaken. These models draw upon data obtained from multidisciplinary projects completed throughout the world to provide the most appropriate model for estimating the potential impacts of a given project.
