TUNNELLING

Heilig and Partners have developed the most advanced software for analysing the environmental effects of tunnelling activities.

The models are three-dimensional and account for equipment specifications, tunnel alignment, surface topography, and geology in predicting the level of vibration and regenerated noise. The model seamlessly interfaces with commonly used graphical packages such as Google Earth.

Sections of the tunnel where compliance is unlikely, as well as calculating the level of vibration and regenerated noise for properties about the tunnel alignment are easily identified. Shading of the tunnel according to the different levels of impact easily permit an assessment of where the environmental compliance maybe more difficult or elevated levels could be expected.

The modelling also provides data on the expected level and duration of vibration/regenerated noise at potentially sensitive properties about the tunnel alignment. These data are useful in assessing the potential impact and possible mitigation measures that may be necessary.
